1. Memory

Memory is the container limit. About a quarter is reserved for Java and system overhead.

2. Server software

You can change software or Minecraft version later with a reinstall from the panel.

How sizing works

Memory is a hard limit. CPU is a shared quota.

The number on the plan is the container's memory limit. Minecraft runs on Java, and Java needs room outside its heap, so we suggest a heap about a quarter smaller than the plan (for 8 GB, -Xmx6G). Our panel sets that for you by default.

CPU quotas are percentages of one thread of the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X. A 300% quota lets a server burst to three threads' worth of time. Threads are shared: if every plan in the first cohort ran flat out at once, the total quota would be about 37 threads across 24 available. In practice Minecraft is mostly single-threaded, so the main limit is how fast one thread runs, and the 9900X is a fast one.

Player estimates are estimates

The player ranges assume default view distance and a light plugin set. Large modpacks, high view distances, redstone-heavy farms, and many loaded chunks can halve them. If unsure, start one size smaller than you think and move up later from your account. The plan changes on the same server, so it is not a new server and nothing has to be moved.

What "backups on the same machine" means

Backup slots let you snapshot and restore your server from the panel. They live on the same machine as your server, so they protect you from mistakes and most software failures, not from the machine itself. Download backups you care about.
